Keyfacts

TIG DC Welder - 200 A - Digital - 230 V - Pulse

Digital technology is not only modern, it also enables cleaner and more precise work. With the welding set IOTA 200 from Welbach, you can directly use the advantages of our digital techniques, as they become evident at first sight. The control panel is not burdened with a multiplicity of aligned knobs anymore. Instead, you only have a few switches, a turnable regulator as well as a display, which can be used intuitively.

Digital technology welds more precisely together

Selecting the parameters is particularly comfortable, thanks to the clearly arranged control panel. The knob/buttons for selecting functions/welding parameters are easily accessible and a breeze to use even when wearing welding gloves. The intuitive menu navigation allows you to effortlessly adjust all values such as pulse rate, gas post-flow time or welding current. All selected parameters are clearly visible on the LED display.

For welding thin sheets, the pulse function is particularly helpful. Even under difficult conditions, the arc can be easily stabilised, since the pulse frequency is adjustable up to 200 Hz. It is also possible to select numerous parameters such as initial base current or final current for pulsed current welding, and optimally adjust them to the workpiece with the aid of the knob.

The modern IGBT inverter impresses with its precise conversion of the selected welding parameters, thereby making perfect welding seams possible. In addition, it supports an easy change between the typical functions of TIG welding and simple switching between 2 - or 4-stroke welding. The welding arc is activated via the proven high-frequency ignition (HF).

The ergonomically shaped torch produces little sparks and spatter when TIG welding and also guarantees pure, high quality welds that leave hardly any deformations. During its welding process, the IOTA 200 welder employs direct current (DC) , thus enabling it to be used for almost all types of melting metal, including their alloys such as aluminum, copper, nickel, titanium or steel. Welding is possible from different positions, be it vertical, horizontal or overhead.

MMA (E-hand) - flexible electrode welding without extra gas

For MMA (Manual Metal Arc) welding no additional gas is required, enabling it to be used outdoors, even when there is strong wind. With this welding method, the welder generates a very stable current, all the while securely maintaining the voltage. Consequently, obtaining high quality welds out of all sorts of different metals is guaranteed.

The HOT-START-function of the electrode welder procures an automatic and short-term increase of the welding current. Thanks to this “Hot Start”, the starting point is immediately heated to the optimal temperature and the electrodes do not clog. You get perfect welding results from the first try.

The ARC FORCE regulates the arc sensor and adapts it to the perfect density for the respective material. Via the digital control panel, you can select the ampere strength for ARC Force and the duration for the hot start function.

The E-hand-clamp seizes even large electrodes with a diameter of up to 5 mm. With the E-hand (MMA) welding method, the device can weld materials with a strength from 1.5 to 10 mm such as steel, iron, cast iron, nickel or copper. With the welding machine you can correctly carry out installations of railings maintenance, stairs, gates, doors, containers or any equipment made of metal.

The powerful air cooling and the overheating protection, displayed next to the LED display, provide this device with long-lasting reliability and durability. A handle in the stable metal housing facilitates transporting the device, while the supplied hoses and cables with lengths from 2.6 to 3.7 meters allow maximum freedom of movement during welding.

IGBT

IGBT = insulated-gate bipolar transistor. IGBT is a bipolar transistor with an insulated gate electrode. This semi-conducting device is being increasingly used in power electronics because it combines the advantages of two transistor types: the easy controls of the field effect transistor and the fast switching and high breakdown voltage of the bipolar transistor. The IGBT also offers some robustness against short circuits because it limits the electrical continuity. IGBTs are a further development of MOSFET technology.

VENTILATORS

Powerful fans ensure an optimal removal of heat from the unit.

PROTECTIVE GAS

TIG/MIG and MAG welding require a protective gas. Inert gases, such as argon and helium, as well as active gases (for example carbon dioxide) and other mixtures can be used. The solenoid valve regulates the flow of gas. The valve is operated via a button on the torch.

GROUND TERMINAL CONNECTOR

MMA WELDING CABLE CONNECTOR

TIG TORCH CONNECTOR

SUPPLY VOLTAGE

This device works with a 1-phase connection (230 V +/- 10 %).

NON-CONTACT HF-IGNITION

A non-contact high-frequency ignition in TIG mode ensures a cleaner weld starting point.

GAS PRE-FLOW TIME

This is the time taken from the moment of pressing the torch button to that of the electric arc igniting. During this process the solenoid valve opens and the released gas pushes the oxygen from the gas lines and in doing so, forms a protective atmosphere for the arc.

STARTING CURRENT

Value of the arc ignition output current. This current can be adjusted at will. For precision welding, it is recommended to start with reduced power, weld smoothly and eventually adjust the current accordingly.

CURRENT RISE TIME

The time taken by the output power to rise to that of the welding current’s value.

WELDING CURRENT

DOWN SLOPE TIME

The time taken of the output welding current to lower to that of the terminal current.

FINAL CURRENT

The output current value before the end of the weld. Welding with the final current helps prevent a crater forming at the end of the weld.

GAS POST-FLOW TIME

The time after the weld is finished in which gas continues to flow from the torch; this cools the burner and protects the weld from oxidation.

PULSE

This function reduces the heat to the material. It is primarily suitable for welding thin plates. If MIG welding is used, it is perfect for aluminium welding.

PULSE FREQUENCY

The frequency of impulses during pulse mode.

BASE CURRENT

The current which maintains the arc while in pulse mode.

2-STROKE

Start the weld by placing pressure on the torch button. Stop the process by releasing the button.

4-STROKE

By pressing the torch button the solenoid valve opens. allowing the gas to flow in. The gas pre-flow ignites the arc at the pre-set current. Releasing the burner button initiates a rise in the current to that of the pre-set welding current. The welding process stops once you press the burner button again.

HOT START

Through automatically boosting the tension at the ignition of the arc, this function facilitates the electrical arc ignition. After ignition, the unit automatically returns to the pre-set voltage.

ARC FORCE

The current value increases automatically when the arc is shorter.

TIG WELDING

A welding method in which the arc is maintained through an electrical current supplied from a non-consumable electrode. The arc is protected from the access of air by an inert gas.

MMA WELDING

Electrode welding with a coated electrode.

PARAMETERS / FUNCTION SELECTION

Do I have to prepare the workpiece for welding? And if so, how?

Chemical and flammable substances must be removed before welding from the surface, because they can catch fire and toxic substances can be released.

How can I clean the appliance?

The appliance must be disconnected from the mains before cleaning. Use cleaning agents that prevent corrosion.

Can I connect a foot pedal to the device?

No, there is no foot pedal connection for this welder.
