There are three steps to creating a sliding sleeve connection: First, push the sliding sleeves onto the pipes. Then expand the respective pipe ends from within using the expanding pliers until they have the desired diameter. Next, insert the fitting into the expanded pipe ends. Finally, slide the sliding sleeves firmly over the fitting in the pipes using the crimping pliers—and the sliding sleeve connection is ready. You can shorten the pipes using the pipe shears either before or afterwards.

Important tip: Don't let any time elapse between widening and crimping the pipe—depending on the material, the previously widened pipe can shrink back to its original diameter.
