The magnetic woodworking cutter aligner from MSW's professional tools collection makes it easier to readjust or change planer knives. The two setting gauges included in the set are suitable for most planer shafts and for cutting diameters from 75 to max. 125 mm. Thanks to the magnets that hold the knives at the right height during adjustment, handling is very easy and the result is precise.

First, zero each magnetic planer blade setting jig by placing it on a smooth area of the shaft and setting it to zero. Next, lift the middle part of the planing blade jig to the desired knife distance and then secure it. Planer knives should not be positioned more than 1.1 mm above the shaft, otherwise they will remove too much wood and the surface will not be clean. Afterwards, place the planer knife setting gauges on the shaft above the blade. The magnets hold the knife securely at the desired distance from the shaft, which significantly reduces the risk of injury compared to adjusting without a gauge.

Now the blade can be secured easily and without slipping. The screws of the clamping bars should be tightened starting from the middle to avoid tension and to protect the shaft. Finally, the woodworking cutter aligners can be removed again. Tip: Blow out the shaft with compressed air before adjusting the planer knives in order to remove any chips that could interfere with adjustment. The set of two jointer setting jigs are made of ABS and steel (Q235) and come in a practical wooden storage case.
