Clamp Head Set - 25 mm
A clamp is an essential tool for woodworking, especially when gluing, but how big should it be? With the clamp head set, you don't have to choose just one size -- you can use this set for small and large workpieces alike!
With regular clamps, the clamping jaws are firmly attached to the bar, meaning you need differently-sized clamps for different jobs. The clamp head set, by contrast, consists of two separate pieces which can be attached as needed to a piece of wood to serve as the bar. This means that the width of the clamp is extremely flexible.
The clamping elements are very simple to assemble. In addition to the two clamping jaws, you will need a 25 mm-wide strip of wood (not included). Drill a hole, 10 mm in diameter, at one end of the strip. Tip: To ensure the proper distance from the upper edge of the piece of wood, place the socket of the clamping jaw in the position where you want it to sit and mark the location of the bolt hole.
Place the second clamping jaw with the threaded spindle as far from the first jaw as you will need for the workpiece. Make a mark here as well and drill a hole as described above. Now you can attach the second element to the piece of wood using a bolt.
There is a handle integrated into the threaded spindle so that you can use leverage to close the clamp head tight. When gluing, the pieces need to be tightly compressed, but the pressure should be calculated so as not to mar the surface.
Because you only need a piece of wood to serve as a bar, your costs for creating a woodworking clamp are extremely low. You can decide the distance between the clamping jaws with pre-drilled holes. You no longer need multiple differently-sized screw clamps -- all you need is this single solution for variously-sized workpieces. This makes the clamp head set very cost-effective.
